Eye of The Dragon 10K - January 27, 1991 Melbourne, Fl. (Also SCR officer List) Some minor course improvements made this year's Eye of the Dragon 10K virtually flawless. A smooth start, orderly turn around, and a challenging attack over and back the Eau Gallie Causeway made it a race to remember. Even a hungry Rottweiler in the first half mile could not put a damper on the race. Mild temperatures, a hint of rain, and a light breeze were also in the race's favor. The tee-shirts were black tank tops with the traditional logo in green and red and were well received and the awards were the best that I've seen at any race in quite some time. Praise to Dick Dehoyos and to Dick Whitmore for an excellent race. The (double) out and back design of the course, gave runners a chance to watch the race unfold. As expected, Doug Butler ran away from the competition and won by almost 2 minutes in 32:12, knocking 1:46 off his time from last year and 6 seconds off the course record. Bill McCord and Chris Kohlstedt fought it out for second place with Bill being victorious in 34:06 and Chris close behind in 34:12. In the woman's division, Cathy Dowling had first place all to herself in a time of 39:20 which was 30 seconds faster than Delight Abreu's course record set last year. Cherl Cobb was second in a time of 41:47 and Sandra Burris was third in 42:14. - GEORGE REVELS OVERALL MALES 01. Doug Butler 32:12 02. Bill McCord 34:06 03. Chris Kholstedt 34:12 OVERALL FEMALES 01.
