Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail 118 Mile Run Okeechobee FL Feb. 7-8, 2015 LOST 118, 9th Edition. With a small contingent this year on yet another variation of the course due to the construction on the Dike we had: First Place Overall and First Place Male: Issie Sosa 30 hours, 57 minutes, 29 seconds First Place Female and Second Overall: Rebecca Hansen 39 hours, 35 minutes, and 32 seconds First Place Relay: Jerry and Jim Sullivan 27 hours, 25 minutes, and 0 seconds The course had an out and back on the West side that had the runners traversing the unpaved portion of the dike twice and it took its toll on all the runners. Rebecca Hansen managed to fall, twice, which gave her gorgeous blood splatter patterns on both knees and her right arm in a sling. This was Saturday morning and early in the race so her perseverance is something to be greatly admired. The usual lake weather was on display with hot days and cool to cold (due to the dampness) nights. But not as cold as further North! :) With fewer runners we were able to assign volunteers to act as crews for those not, already, crewed. Thanks again to all the wonderful volunteers, organized by the Aid Station Queen, Susan Anger, for their tireless efforts and patience staying with their runners as they tackled Lake Okeechobee. Next year's LOST 118 will be held on February 20,21, 2016. Stay tuned to see what the course will look like next year. Just think, if you run it year after year the course will be different each time! GSM
