Run To Save A Life 5K - April 14, 1990 Satellite Beach, Fl. RACE RESULTS Revels & Borell Run To Save A Life: This inaugural race was held in Satellite Beach on and near Satellite High School , April 14. Race director Ellen Potts and her crew did a fine job with their first race. Henry Campbell used his experience as a race director and put in a lot of time before hand to help make the race a success. The 139 runners had ideal conditions (cool with a light breeze) and a well laid out course in the neighborhoods near the school, with lots of turns and a few good straight-aways. An additional nice touch was the finish; 3/4 of a lap around the track. Splits were available at every mile with water at 1 mile, 2 miles, and the finish. Awards consisted of generous trophies for first through third in all age groups. Bill McCord said "good bye" from the beginning and left everyone else running for second. Pat Chambers, Peter Gelzinis, George Revels, and Robert Rebas stayed together for most of the race. Bill eventually finished in 16:21. Pat Chambers misjudged the distance to the finish and threw in an explosive kick that thoroughly intimidated his competition and held on for second in 17:02. George Revels was third in 17:11. In the women's division, Allison Cameron won with a time of 20:23. Rebecca Sparks was second in 21:24. Sharon Ogle was third in 22:21. - GFR OVERALL MALES 01. Bill McCord 16:21 02.
